Confirm the exact test
Similar test names can have different purposes. Use the clinician’s request where one was issued and confirm the sample type, preparation instructions, collection option, location, fee, and expected turnaround time.
Follow preparation instructions
Some tests require fasting, timed collection, or changes to routine. Do not stop prescribed medicine unless a qualified clinician specifically tells you to do so.
A result is not a diagnosis by itself
Reference ranges and individual results need clinical context. Arrange follow-up with an appropriate clinician, especially for an abnormal result or continuing symptoms.
